What is Ocean City, Maryland like in Winter?
With so many shoulder-season and winter events and activities available during the off-season, there’s no reason to limit your beach vacation to the summer. You may even find that you can enjoy a much more relaxing and laid-back seaside escape if you wait for summer crowds to clear out. Check out some of our favorite events and attractions you can enjoy during your winter escape at Ocean High.
Year-Round Indoor Mini Golf
What’s a beach vacation without a few rounds of golf? In the winter, you may not feel like braving the cooler temperatures to complete 18 holes on the outdoor golf links, but you can enjoy year-round fun at the Old Pro Golf’s indoor mini-golf courses.
Try your luck at Undersea Adventure Mini-Golf or practice putting at Safari Village Mini-Golf, both of which are located at various points along Coastal Highway. Both courses are worthy of stepping away from Ocean High for a fun-filled winter day activity in Ocean City.
Winterfest of Lights
Though it technically starts in late fall, Winterfest of Lights is the perfect Ocean City event to get you into the spirit of winter! Operating in evenings from late November through the end of December, Winterfest dazzles visitors with more than one million holiday-themed lights spread across 58 acres.
The one-mile Winterfest route takes you through a winter wonderland that also features animated light displays, fairytale-themed exhibits, and a 50-ft Christmas tree. Guests can even ride on the Winterfest Express train and take a photo with Santa. This affordable, family-friendly Ocean City event is something you won’t want to miss!
Ocean City Boardwalk in Winter
Though some Ocean City restaurants and attractions may be closed during the winter months, there’s still plenty to do along the Boardwalk when cooler temperatures descend upon the beach resort town. Even if it’s too cold to go for a swim in the ocean, you can still enjoy a picturesque walk along the Ocean City Boardwalk, where you’ll find arcades and some shops open year-round.
Winter offers you the chance to take in the beauty of the Atlantic Ocean and Ocean City coast without the hustle and bustle of large tourist crowds. It’s a different kind of beach experience that we know you’ll love!
